Solar Eclipse Luncheon and Quilt Auction
Monday August 21, 2017 Covenant Point Camp and Retreat Center will be in the path of the 2017 Eclipse Across America. We are combining this once in a lifetime event with a Quilt Auction and Luncheon to celebrate 20 years of summer camp and to support the camp facilities and scholarships that we offer the youth who enjoy summer camp at Camp Covenant Point.
We are offering Covenant Point as a family friendly viewing location for the Solar Eclipse, away from the crowds in nature. This is a once in a lifetime experience that follows closely with our vision of being a place to get away from the everyday to connect with God and one another. Come connect with us and experience God’s creation.
Tickets: To be on site for the day of the eclipse each person must have a ticket. Please get your tickets in advance so that we know how much food to prepare. Adult day pass tickets are $25 and include access to the auction, luncheon, and solar viewing glasses for the eclipse. Child tickets (ages 3-12) are available for $15. The easiest way to purchase these are online with PayPal thru our parent organization website, Missouri Union Presbytery. If you are interested in lodging go to this page for more info and options to purchase your day pass with your lodging.
Schedule for the Event
9am – Registration for the auction begins. John Wallace is providing his expertise and skill and will offer the ability to cash out with plastic with only a 4% additional fee.
10am – Live Auction begins with 15 or more amazing items that you can see NOW!
10am – Lakefront will be open for canoeing and paddleboating. Priority will be given to those too little to bid in the auction but all are welcome. Lifejackets are provided and required. Bring your own fishing poles & tackle
11am – Then as the Quilt auction action dies down, the all you can eat amazing luncheon from our locally famous camp cook will be available.
11:45am – the shadow starts to fall upon the grounds.
1pm – Food will be put away and everyone should be using their solar viewing glasses and should find a space outside on our 160 acres. See this video and many others for what to expect.
@1:12pm – Experience the 2 and a half minutes of total solar eclipse. While the moon is covering the entire disk of the sun is the only time that you can slip off your glasses and peek at how eerie it is for the sun to disappear in the middle of the day. Keep your glasses close because although our totality is one of the longer ones across the USA once the flares start showing around the moons disk you need them back on.
2pm – The Pool will be open for swimming. Please bring your own towels, lifeguard will be provided.
4pm – Check out time for 1st Night Cabins and Tents. Please put all trash in Bathhouse trash cans and leave nicer than you found it.
5pm – 2nd Night tent campers can setup on their sites.
We appreciate your interest in getting away from your everyday to experience this complete solar eclipse and support Covenant Point Camp and Retreat Center and we pray that you will connect with God and one another here and be able to take a positive experience home with you. In order for this to happen for all of us in this place we require the use of designated smoking areas, and prohibit the possession of alcohol or drugs on Covenant Point property. Thank you for your understanding and respect in these matters.
